Exchange

Payments in Bulgaria are made only in Bulgarian lev (BGL). It is strongly recommended to exchange some amount of your currency to BGL at the airport. There are several cash automats and bank offices at the airport.

Registration Desk

The registration desk is located at the Institute of Organic Chemistry bl.9 (see the map above). Registration desk will be open on Monday, September 21, 10:00-16:00. A registration desk will also be open in the mornings before the lectures, and during the coffee breaks.

Getting to hotel and course places

There are several possibilities to get from Sofia airport to your hotel and to the Institute of Organic Chemistry bl.9 for lectures, poster session and NMR practicum.

The easiest way (recommended): In the reception hall of Sofia airport (terminal 2) there are at least two information desks where taxi can be ordered. They are easily recognisable. Go there and order a taxi. You will be brought to the cab waiting for you. It is not recommended to stop a taxi by your own at the airport.

The cheapest, but a bit complicated way: Take the bus 284 (if you arrive at terminal 2) or 84 (if you arrive at terminal 1). Get off at the bus station Hotel Pliska. All hotels, as well as the conference place are located close to the Hotel Pliska. You should walk 10 to 15 minutes to get to your hotel (see the map above).

Plovdiv – Bulgaria’s second largest city is situated in the fertile Thracian valley. It is a picturesque town, with many parks and gardens, museums and archaeological monuments. Its old part, called the Old Town, with houses from the National Revival period (XVIII-XIX century), is an imposing open-air museum situated on the three hills of the ancient Trimontium. One of the most remarkable sights of the town, the Ancient Theatre (a well-preserved Roman theatre), is located there and is still used for open-air performances.
